To any anyone who identifies under the trans* umbrella
So I’m doing a final presentation for my class and I could choose almost any subject so I chose to do Trans* 101 type of presentation. I thought it would be really informative for my classmates and keep up the awareness that LGBT is not only about sexuality.
So part of what i want to do is interviews. I write up a questionnaire just now and it’d be great if some people identifying under the trans* umbrella would volunteer fill it out. I asks about your experiences being trans* (which include recalling negative experiences, dysphoria, and other fairly personal information).
A couple of important notes:
- You do not have to participate if you don’t feel comfortable.
- You do not even have to answer all of the questions if you are not comfortable with any particular ones (just mark them if you didn’t answer them on purpose).
- Please tell me if you think I have written any overly invasive/hurtful questions in general. I want stories and experiences but I don’t want anyone be hurt in the process because of any insensitivity.
- If you have any questions about the questionnaire (clarification details, questions about the circumstances of my assignment, anything really), feel free to ask me in my ask box.
- If you participate, submit the finished questionnaire in my submissions (at the top of my page).
- Don’t reblog this. I’m only giving an 8 minute presentation at most and I’m also putting in general information too so I only need a few interviews.
Questionnaire under the cut (hopefully).
-
What is your first name and how old are you?
- What is your gender identity?
- What are your current circumstances (concerning friends, family, work, etc. and they intersect with how you are trans*)?
- How did you feel before figuring out your gender identity and that you were trans*?
- What led you to finding out your gender identity and that you were trans*?
- Was it difficult? How did you deal with it?
- How did you feel afterwards, figuring it out?
- If you have come out to anyone, how did they react and how did you deal with it if it was negative?
- What is dysphoria like for you? How do you deal with it?
- How do you deal with cissexism/transphobia around/towards you?
- Do you have any advice for any cisgender people on how to be supportive and not cissexist/transphobic?
- Do you have any advice for any kids who are questioning their assigned gender or are trans* and closeted?
- Any other comments or stories you want to talk about?
